Reaching Haridwar

The pilgrimage town of Haridwar lies in the foothills of the Shivalik Himalayas in the state of Uttaranchal. The town has an excellent connectivity with all the key destinations in northern India. Haridwar lies at a distance of 214 km from Delhi (6 hr journey by train & road), India's epicentre of power. Though Haridwar can also be reached by air, preferred mode of travelling is either by road or by rail. Given below is more information on how you can reach Haridwar.


Domestic Airport

If you want to reach Haridwar by air, you can catch a flight from Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. After your arrival at the airport, you will need to drive a distance of 20 km to reach Haridwar. Taxi cabs ply regularly from the airport to the town of Haridwar. This taxi ride will cost you around Rs 400. The airport of Jolly Grant operates regular flights to Delhi. It takes around 45 minutes by air to travel to Haridwar from Delhi.

Railway Station

A number of express and mail trains connect the town of Haridwar with all the major cities of India. Haridwar has railway connections with cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Chennai, Dehradun, Bandra Terminus, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Howrah, Indore, Puri, Rishikesh, Varanasi, Ujjain etc. If you are reaching Haridwar from Delhi, the Dehradun Shatabdi Express (2017) is a good option. Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi also runs trains connecting to Haridwar.

Road Network

Regular tourist buses and state owned buses are available to reach Haridwar from different parts of the country. There are regular deluxe buses available from Delhi. National Highway 58 provides good road connectivity to Haridwar.
